Shameful Irony: Marqui’s Fake Dead Blog
In all of my years blogging (which haven’t been that many, I’ll admit) I’ve never seen a company be so inauthentic or be less transparent. And, keep in mind, I worked for Enron for two years. But Marqui, my last company (under new direction) has taken the cake.
It seems they’ve scrubbed the first two years of Marqui’s World (the company’s blog) of Tara Smith’s and my names as authors of more than 300 posts there.
I found out when someone asked me whether I hadn’t blogged for them, because they couldn’t find anything written under my name.
And it’s not as if they’ve been keeping the blog up on their own. Upon researching the situation, I found their last post was dated February 22; and I counted only ten posts since my farewell post in September of 2006.
It’s pretty ironic, since they make software for blogging and web content management. Looks like they want to play in the game, but are completely and shamefully faking their way through it.
What have they got to gain by that?
Guess I don’t feel so silly now for printing out hard copies of all of the blogs I posted on Marqui’s World. It seemed somewhat unnecessary at the time, since one of the great (and occasionally intimidating)things about the Web is that content supposedly lives on forever.
Obviously, this is not always the case. It’s as if little electronic pieces of me have been erased.
I seriously hope this was a result of some sort of technical glitch caused by the fact we are no longer active users of Marqui’s suite. Doesn’t necessarily bode well for the company’s software (which pains me to say since I still have a bunch of stock options), but at least it’s better than the alternative: that our names were deliberately removed.
Either way, we know the truth and we can still be proud of our contributions to Marqui’s World.
Even if Marqui isn’t.
-Tara Smith (a.k.a. the other “Forgotten” Marqui’s World Blogger)
Amen, Tara.
I wish the erasure would be attributable to a technical glitch. Even though that wasn’t my first instinct, obviously.
Regardless, it was wonderful while it lasted. And even though the markers of the posts have been erased, our DNA remains in each one. They can’t scrub that out.
This was certainly before my time Janet, but I would also hope that it was just a technical glitch. I’ve certainly enjoyed all the posts that both you and Tara have made on the Marqui blog as well as your current blog. We hope to become more active in our blogging and invite you to join in the conversation with our new team. All the best.
Though I too have since moved on from Marqui, I can say that this wasn’t done under my direction. I wouldn’t think it, contemplate it, ponder it for a second. No way. No how. Like Thao, I too would hope that it was a technical glitch, and I am sure that she will get to the bottom of it.
Thao, thank you for your response. I wish you and the team there all the best - it would be cool if you did become more active in your blogging. And even cooler if you could figure out (and repair) what happened to Tara’s and my posts.
Don’t worry I already pinged the Support team this week about getting things back up. Will keep you posted. I knew it wasn’t anything John would’ve ever done either.
